Following the 1st Battalion's return from Afghanistan in 2010, the Combat Studies group at the US Army Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, KS conducted dozens of interviews with veterans of the deployment. The group's goal was to preserve the history of the first unit to deploy Stryker combat vehicles in Afghanistan.
